Recent years have shown us what the power of the internet is. There are two kinds of people who get instant fame on the internet or as people say goes “Viral”. The ones who are really bad or cringe-worthy and others who are super talented and come from a not-so-fortunate background.
Ranu Mondal is the perfect of the latter one. A passer Atindra Chakraborty found her at Ranaghat Junction Railway Station. He recorded her singing one of the old classics of Lata Mangeshkar “Ek Pyaar Ka Nagma Hai”.
Later Atindra Chakraborty posted that video on social media, and it went viral on different social media platforms. Soon after that, Himesh Reshammiya (Composer, singer, and actor) offered Ranu Mondal a song in his upcoming movie Happy Hardy and Heer. The song Teri Meri Kahani is already in the air. Watch here. She even appeared in one of the biggest singing reality shows in India called Superstar Singer, where we find Himesh Reshammiya as a judge.
Himesh Reshammiya gave her so much love that he manages her Instagram account by himself.
What Lata Mangeshkar Has to Say About This?
In an interview, Lata Mangeshkar was asked about all that has been going on with Ranu Mondal and her success story. To which she replied, “if anyone benefits from my name, I feel fortunate”. But simultaneously she showed her reservation by saying that “I feel imitation is not a reliable and durable companion for success”. Clearly, Lata Mangeshkar is not in total favor of “imitation is the best form of flattery”.
Ranu Mondal’s Reaction!
Recently, Ranu Mondal gave an interview where she discussed her journey from a beggar to an internet sensation. Later in the interview, she was asked to share her views on Lata Mangeshkar’s comment to which she replied “As far as age is concerned, I am younger to her and will always remain her junior. I have loved her voice since childhood.”
This clearly sounds that despite being in the air, Ranu Mondal didn’t leave her humbleness behind. She is so modest that even after hearing a comment, Ranu Mondal replied to Lata Mangeshkar’s comment politely. In addition to it, she showed her respect for Lata Mangeshkar.
In all fairness, there can only be one Lata Mangeshkar for generations to come. And, people have been imitating her for years now. This situation could have been handled with a little more maturity as “Imitation is the best form of flattery” indeed.
Best wishes to Ranu Mondal.
