A regular beating heart is very important for your health. While it helps us live, it also is one of the leading causes of death.
It doesn’t mean we all are going to die because of heart diseases. You can keep your heart healthy and live longer. Here are a few tips to keep your heart healthy.

Everything comes to eating healthy, isn’t it? That’s because what goes into your body directly affects your health. Add fruits and vegetables to your diet and reduce fat. Fat increases your cholesterol which directly impacts your heart’s health. So, it goes without saying “Eat Healthy, Live Healthy.”

Do I even have to discuss this? Smoking is indeed injurious to health. Smoking not only increases the risk of cancer. It also reduces your heart’s health. The carbon monoxide in the cigarette replaces some amount of oxygen in your blood. And, this leads the heart to beat faster to supply a sufficient amount of oxygen ultimately causing heart damage and high blood pressure.

3. Exercise is the Holy-Grail
A moderate level of exercise can do wonders for your overall body health. Combining some exercise with a healthy diet is the mantra of a healthy lifestyle. It can be considered the best way for heart disease prevention. Such physical activity helps in reducing stress, blood pressure, and cholesterol. All of this impacts your heart, it is always good to control them.
4. Stress Management
Believe it or not, stress can actually be deadly. People deal with stress in all kinds of wrong ways – while some overeat and others over drink or smoke. These ways deteriorate your heart’s health drastically. As some people cope with stress by overeating and drinking while others stress so much that they develop a risk of a heart attack. It’s important to deal with stress through meditation and exercising. And, one or two therapy sessions a week never hurts.

Sleep deprivation can cause major health risks. Trust me, yawning all day isn’t even a problem even it comes to sleep deprivation. It puts you at the risk of getting depression, diabetes, high blood pressure. An adult needs at least 7 to 9 hours of sleep every night. If you’re getting anything less than 7 hours of sleep, you can be sleep deprived. And, if you’re getting enough sleep and still wake up tired every day. Consult a doctor about sleep apnea, because it can also put your heart at risk.
6. Healthy Weight
Maintaining a healthy weight helps you far more than you can imagine. A healthy body weight indicates that your heart isn’t under pressure. Whether you’re overweight or underweight, your heart has to beat a little faster to keep the blood supply going. A simple way to know whether you fall in over or under the bodyweight category is to know your Body Mass Index (BMI). BMI considers height and weight if your BMI is a little above or below 25 your body weight is unhealthy.
7. Regular Check-up
Even if you’re following everything mentioned above, it’s necessary to get a full-body check-up regularly. Knowing your body inside out is very important especially if you want to keep your heart healthy. Ideally, it’s good to get a full-body check-up every 6 months.
As I said before, a heart is a risky organ. But, it doesn’t mean you have to stop living your life. Your heart can be healthy if you follow these easy ways for heart disease prevention. Your heart knows what it’s doing, you just have to maintain a healthy lifestyle for your own good. Exercise daily and eat healthy food, that’s the least you can do for your body.
